This board has a very organic, substantive, woodsy aesthetic; feels like the western forests, so I call it Big Sur.

Materials: Solid Walnut playing surface, solid teak perimeter, zebrawood hand inserted in the perimeter, teak point and teak storage box with zebrawood insert.

Playing checkers box for Big Sur: solid walnut with hand insets of African Zebrawood.

Big Sur presented at a Hampton’s art gallery. I finish all of my pieces with several layers of carefully hand-applied clear resin (which requires several days and alot of skill to get it just right!)—allowing a real sense of depth and dimension from the points I create—while imparting a smooth, glass-like, yet resilient, playing surface.
